Jill Burda comes to Evergreen via Winston-Salem, North Carolina where she had the privilege of being the administrator and fundraiser for The Special Children's School. This is a private inclusive school that serves young children up to the age of five. She served as the administrator for almost nine years until the school's board decided to take the school into another direction and become a public school. Jill left The Special Children's School with the desire to go into full time fundraising. She wanted to continue pursuing her passion of advocating for individuals with special needs. Jill was unable to find the perfect fit until the day she read a blank email sent to Association of Fundraising Professionals stating, "CAREER OPPORTUNITY - VP DEVELOPMENT." As Jill continued to read the email saying Christian affiliated non-profit, serving persons with developmental disabilities," she thought, why not at least reply.
The rest is history. It was a good fit for Jill. She began her position as the Vice President of Development on March 10, 2008. Jill holds a bachelor's degree from Vanguard University in religion and a master's degree from Loyola University of Chicago, Erikson Institute in education. She has been on a couple of mission trips, one to the Dominican Republic and, just recently, to Guatemala. Jill has over twenty years of experience in the non-profit sector and has always worked with people with special needs. Jill is married to Tony Burda. They have a blended family of four grown children, three grandchildren and a new granddaughter on the way. Jill and Tony were active members of the First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina volunteering in the music, missions and technology ministries. Jill is excited to join the Evergreen family and the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead for Evergreen.
